Looking to get hold of some reputable brand e27 (screw mount) LED's for our office, but I'd like Daylight rather than cool white or warm white.

Does anyone know the place to get some good quality bulbs at around 10w?

Also do these bulbs have drivers built in or do you need to install those as well to get the longest life from the bulb?

e27s will usually have the driver built in. You may need to specify the colour temp, rather than daylight, because coolwhite can sometimes be referred to daylight colour by some manufacturers, as some only offer cool or warm white. From the ones I have trialled over the last few years, panasonic seem to be the best, and Briscoes often have them on special. Technology is improving, as you can now buy more energy efficient ones.

Loads of daylight ones available. Mitre 10 have their house brand in them, warehouse have philips available online, supermarket has panasonics but only in low wattages, PB tech also have panasonic and a buy 5 get 1 free deal instore at least.

Its the 4000k ones that are hard to find. Some people call 6500k cool white and call 4000k natural white, so dont overlook cool white options since they may be 6500k which is what traditional daylight fluros are. Somtimes 8000k is called daylight by some sellers.

Daylight at noon is around 4000k or slightly above.  That is all I use.  Klick brand (or Click?) at Bunnings do them and seem good (a few months so far).  I'm using outdoor flood lights and GU10 down lights (the are wide angel, not spots, great for bathroom).  A friend uses the large reflector version of E27 and love them.

All my click par38 lamps failed quickly. The glass fronts fell off some of them. One onto a car roof. Just glued in with something that fails in outdoor up or heat.

I ended up just getting Panasonic 'Tornado's'  - $5 each for 1460Lm and I could actually find them in stock, plus they're at 65K so good as gold.

I'll look at LED's when they are cheaper, easier to find and more powerful.  I didn't get a chancer to go to Bunnings but both Countdown and The Warehouse are supposed to stock the Philips LED 12.5W 65K bulb but don't - ample supply of the warm white but that's not what I'm after.  Keen to see the Philips 14W one at Bunnings but it's a bit far away.

The CFLs may say that they are that many lumins, but if you are putting them in downlighters, a lot of that light goes upwards. Whereas LEDs should be brighter than the equivalent CFL, as only half the bulb is light and it directs downwards more.

I agree, but they're also 1/4 the cost and readily available so it's just easier for me to do this until a later date!
