Hi all,

I am a fan of investing in a good nights sleep. I have recently reviewed 'sleeplikethedead.com' and made some purchases of sheets etc based on the recommendations. (They were excellent!)

Anyway, I found that I couldn't source them anywhere in NZ. I don't mind paying a little extra if I can get them local but I am finding that there are a lot of highly recommended products that don't seem to be readily available in NZ. For example I am now looking at a serta mattress topper.....

Would be interested to hear some thoughts? Are there any speciality retailers that work with downright good products? I have been to all the common retailers and bought various pillows/sheets/toppers but they all just seem to last several months and then lose their comfort.

I stay at a few hotels when I travel and I am half tempted to try and buy a bed package through a hotel chain as the quality seems much better than what I can find as a consumer.

Cheers.

IME buying the best here is often hard - most retailers compete on price not quality.

I did find this though.

We have:
 - Egyptian cotton sheets from Briscoes (never pay more than 50% of full price). I think we have Domani Lusso brand.
 - Memory foam mattress (a brand not available any more)
 - Memory foam topper (they wear out) from Slumber Top.
 - I use a memory foam pillow, contoured. $50 from target furniture, on special.

Also, a heater in the room so we don't need huge heavy duvets.

Thanks for the tip - I am willing to try, might go visit them on the weekend.

FYI to anyone, these sheets came highly recommended here (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007M6G1FS?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00) - I got a set and they are amazing.

I would love for some specialist boutique company to start up in New Zealand and source great quality products from world-wide. Just within the general retailers I feel as though the quality isn't as good, maybe I have just had some bad luck!

Edit: won't let me set a hyperlink....

I replaced an old one with that new one, so not a huge difference. The top layer wears out. I love memory foam though.

For those prices you can buy a great sleepyhead bed from farmers when it goes half price 3 times a year.

Another vote for Wellington Beds. Mine is amazing. They also do a 3? month promise if you don't like it then they'll exchange it for another one.

How do you find these memory foam pillows. The other half bought one and it gave her a major headache. Never figured out if it was something to do with the angle of her neck or the fact the it was (obviously) new and smelled (smelt ?) terrible.

I've got some I bought and tried using - caused neck pains. I'd burn them if it wouldn't just make a metric tonne of black smoke.

I love mine so much I actually travel with it domestically for hotel use if I am driving.

There are two kinds. One is a pillow shaped lump of memory foam. The other is a more normal pillow, stuffed with shredded memory foam.

They have different feels - perhaps if one does not work for you, the other might.

We just replaced ours. Again, excellent.

We sprung for the drawers in the base this time -  great, as otherwise it's just a massive dead space!
