We're looking at a replacement heat pump

Rather focus on product I'm keen to hear people experiences with the actual companies good and bad

I've used these guys and was happy with both price and service for a heatpump install. http://www.smartairsolutions.co.nz/

I've had two, both companies have gone out of business. Seems to happen really regularly. I'd go for a big, well established company if you want easy warranty support. Hot Chilly

Cozy Cool I think went out of business and I didn't much like the way their accounts or customer service worked. Hot Chilly also went out of business. Sometimes they start up again with a similar name.

Check out Wasabi Air, seem to have been around a long time. My neighbours son works for them.

I got a Mitsubishi heatpump installed by 'The Right Degree', he does it part time around his day job. He can also sell you a heat pump if required.

Does both residential and commercial installs. I would happily recommend him to anyone.
