looking at replacement electric range 600mm freestanding.

Existing F&P multi function, radiant hobs, will plug connection, nearly 20 years old but all working.


Replacement options being considered;

Westinghouse Apollo with ceramic cook top, currently 25% off at Harvey Norman

F&P Elba similar spec


Anyone have these models, or similar options and offer any advice?

Since I've already stated my opinions and what I bought recently I won't state them again. I will say induction is awesome.

I'd definitely consider Induction - Ariston and Belling (that I know of, must be more) do frestanders with Induction hobs.

I like the concept of induction, not an option for me at present, too expensive to buy and install.  Consumer tests concluded that is was faster but not necessarily more efficient, in terms of power use.

I understand that induction would require higher current wiring and this would be expensive, my house is unusual construction and changing wiring would be major pain.
The existing socket is behind the upright back part of the range, so a change of style with low back, controls in the front would be an issue.  In that is I would need a splash back and it would cover the socket.  Not really an option.

The power outlets on the range are useful in my kitchen set up.

Hence I was asking about the models in particular, or similar within my budget.  My parents have an F&P ceramic cooktop/hob and it seems ok.

Option B is tidy up or replace the scruffy oven door on existing cooker.

I've used induction and ceramic. I'd rather have old coil style than most ceramic cooktops. Ceramics are too cool and slow for the way I cook. Induction went onto our current wiring, a practical electrican said "don't turn the oven and all the elements on at the same time, if the circuit breaker blows we'll replace the wiring". He checked the wiring was rated for at least what the break could do.

I will talk to electrician, and perhaps put the replacement on the back burner.
Induction options are a beyond budget unless I use an interest free deal.
