Hi,

I hope that someone out there can assist with my enquiry below.

We recently bought a house which is installed with a Paradox Spectra 5500 alarm system (approx. 5-6 years old). There is no information as to who originally installed the alarm system.

The alarm system is working fine but arming and disarming has to be carried out manually at the keypad i.e. the system does not come with a wireless remote control.

The manual states that a "wireless expansion module" is necessary to use remote controls if you are using a Spectra SP system.

Does anyone know where I can source an economical wireless expansion module and associated remote controls. A friend mentioned that it may cost approx $500 to install a wireless remote system.

Is it possible to have a common remote control that can be used both for the security alarm system and the garage door?

Any feedback or suggestions is much appreciated.

PS: I live in Hamilton, Waikato.

Thanks.

is there no installer sticker on it that you could contact?

Find someone local to get yourself into their books as it may be due for a replacement battery and have them sort out a remote for it.

All decent alarm systems can control any output, including garage doors

Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately there is no installer sticker on the control panel nor the keypad.

To the yellow pages, then batman!

Edit: google's first paid link for paradox alarms Waikato gives a result of Garrison, for example.

Thanks. I have been in touch with Atlas Gentech and they have asked me to contact the installer (who is a mystery at this stage). I will be contacting one of the other installers in town.

Thanks to all for your assistance.
