Anyone have or know anything about these? Are they any good / reliable or are they sub 1 year lifespan junk with terrible internal workmanship and design?

On Trade Me and on AliExpress.

Looking for something that can run up to 24v and about 10 amps

I have a couple of gophert ones off aliexpress, a 16v 10a one and a 32v 5a one and they work fine. They do larger ones too which if have the same quality should be fine.

Have just been reading up a bit on them. Is the display hard to read, it looks like it might be looking at a couple of youtube videos?

No, its fine. Its a multiplexed LED display and most youtube people have no idea how to set the exposure on their camera so it shows as a flickery mess.

A mate of mine bought a external power supply so he could anodise parts that he makes, he wasn't impressed with the cheaper units and was replacing his with a more expensive unit when I last spoke to him.

I bought one that looks like the picture in the Aliexpress link (mine's a Zhaoxin Linear Adjustable DC Power Supply RXN-305D 30V 5A) in 2011.  It's been fine.

Here is a free option for making super reliable and even more powerfull PS:

- take 2 of IBM 12V 60A PSs (AKA hot swap PS in many servers/rack equipment);

- connect them in series, just bear in mind that casing is grounded (minus 12V) - hence make sure they are not touching each other.

That's it. You have 24V 60A PS after few minutes of "hard" work :-)

FYI depending on the model you sourse - look for pinouts - most of them can be powered by shortcut in the external plug.

I am using those as a 12V 60A source as one of my applications requires about 40A current...

If 10-15 A in good enough for you - then just use two PC PS in series - easy...

Modding PC PS is another option - you can change it from 12 to 24V - but that requires more work...
