I had a busy weekend. I was reminded - the hard way - yet again of the Fundamental Law of DIY: "it will always take longer and cost more than you think".

However, I believe I have discovered a new (for me at least) Law of Technology: "the ports on your new ethernet switch will fill up much faster than you think".

What are yours?

Easy: workloads will expand to fill up available capacity - memory, CPU, storage. Also applies to Vodafone cable network usage.

I'll take the age old easy one (has it been disproven yet?)

Moore's law - the number of transistors in a dense integrated circuit doubles approximately every two years.

The one seems to inflict often is... the moment you buy it's superceded.

No storage media will ever have enough capacity. In ten years we'll be probably laughing at computers that had terabyte sized hard drives.

Moore's Law is dead as of 2016.

And it was being changed every so often anyway...

That was an interesting read, thanks!

The comment section shows some novel ideas for the future too.

Here's another 'law' though... The Internet connection I have will never be enough to do the things I want it to, at the speed/quality I desire.

People will still use local storage in ten years?

That wasn't a law and wasn't immutable.

Also Bill Gates never said that.
