I have a room with a minor dust issue. I'm looking at resolving that directly, but I'm also thinking of an air purifier as a temporary/cleanup measure.

I noticed this in Godfrey's. It is $199 in nz but au$30 on the Australian version website:

There are similar things on trademe $80 and up. I'm thinking of $200 max. The gold standard (asthma foundation) is a daiken at around 1k which isn't going to happen.

I'd consider something secondhand in this category if that is worthwhile. I have a preference for something I can pick up in the next few days.

Edit: There are several videos on YouTube showing 300mm box fans with 300mm filters taped to them. I'm tempted. Cost of that would be slightly over $100 and it would filter a lot of air really quickly. Could not leave it on 24/7 tho.

Any recommendations or opinions gratefully recieved.

Says it adds moisture, so clearly aimed at the aussie market and will just make more mold grow in NZ.

I got a kogan air purifier a while ago. Its noisy and its filter gets stuff in it over a few weeks. No visible reduction in the dust in the room at all.

I thought it would be PC loud, but it is cheap fan heater loud on low and much worse on 2 or 3.

They dont seem to list it anymore, but its an upright tower design.

So, I'm looking seriously at the Daikin now. $800 is the best price I see online and available in NZ.

But NZ$500 in Australia! Even at Youshop's price for 8.5kg that is worthwhile, but the time delay may mean I buy in NZ.

Not many prices online for NZ so it's looking like a morning on the phone to see if I can find better than $800 in NZ. The price differential between AU and NZ is massive.
