Yep, I know when it's raining. My ceiling leaks! Last time this happened my landlord who lives above me told me it was due to the rain being blown in at the wrong direction. Not much he could do! Here we go again. More rain and here I sit with a bucket behind my head..

Oh bugger :-(

Get high Res photos and video. Helps with diagnosis. It's much harder to figure out when it's dry. Get a second opinion on that. Anything can be fixed so it's time to present some quotes and get that looked at.

Last time we had heavy rain, he said buckets of water were streaming through his light sockets. I didn't feel half as bad then! I guess I won't be electrocuted. I may have to move to Aussie. No wait! Spiders..snakes, Heavy rain. No thanks :-)

Serve a 14 day notice to have the leaks fixed. Or are you putting up with it due to getting cheap rent?

Does the house roof not have much slope and corrugated iron? Water blown sideways can get through the lap join. Other profiles are better at stopping this.

When living with the rents before they p*ssed off to Australia and dumped me here we had an upstairs deck that was sorta built into the house. It didnt drain correctly and leaked into the office below. Rotted all the gib out and the whole frame even though it was treated timber. Our landlord didnt give two effs and only looked at it when we moved out.

Then for us to be told that we didnt do our part in reporting the damage and the leak... Sorta just laughed in their face and forwarded a few emails expressing our concern for the structure.

We got a weeks free rent in the end due to the office we could never use as everything would get water wet.

See if you can get out of there and get some kind of reparation for it.

Our garage always floods when its heavy rain.... so we replaced the drain in front of it couple of weeks ago. But still got majorly flooded last night. COuldnt see where it was coming in, until I looked at the floor closely, and found 3 holes in the concrete where water was coming up from underneath. Obviously a previous owner had something there bolted to the floor and didnt both filling them in again.......

The landlord has legal obligations to provide a safe habitable home. Sound's like they aren't meeting those obligations.

LOL. I've not seen a snake or a killer spider in the last 5 years at my current address.

Had some rain once, but I cant remember when. It's been awhile.

When ever i see family in Noosa or Brisbane or the GC I find a snake and a billion spiders every time.
Those little green tree snakes are everywhere in Noosa!

What is the best roof for an "extreme" wind zone?

Is there any special material or technique that can help.

Whys it leaking? It doesn't sound like it has been installed to the building code and has adequate flashings. Or it is rusted through. Extreme winds require larger flashings, and steel roof with a decent pitch is likely to be a better solution.

It shouldn't do that even if there were holes. Doesn't sound like the floor has a membrane underneath it, or it has a hole in the membrane. . Quite a major issue if it doesn't.
