Was looking at my powershop app this morning for power used this past weekend.

Saturday I was home, using power tools in the shed, some cooking done - oven, stove top etc.
Sunday I wasn't there so apart from a few vampire devices, not much power used.

Screen shots below show (in the graph at least) pretty much what I described above, but the numbers don't match up at all. Apparently I used more power on Sunday when I wasn't home - at least according to home much I was billed!

Anyone else come across something like this?

Did you check the numbers on the smart meter itself ?

Do you have heatpumps or devices that turn on/off automatically to keep the house at a certain temp?

Did you have a massively long hot shower or bath on Saturday night, where the power on Sunday morning could have been used to heat up a whole heap of water?

Do you have a smart meter that shows a KWH reading?
If i were you I'd find out if thats actual usage or just a pretty graph to make people think its reporting live data.
Do a test one day, Turn everything off and note down your reading in the morning then evening. Make sure during this time your just running the bare essentials and all the "Vampires" are asleep and your out for the day.

Are you on a Gas infinity or HWC?

Check the app and see what it says.
Take it from there.

Currently away from home so can't do the checks proposed. I have noted previously that any power cut that occurs will correspond exactly with the graph shown on the app timing wise - for the duration of the power cut the app will show no use at all.

Hot water is heated via electricity. I haven't checked the actual numbers on the smart meter but there weren't any huge water usages on Saturday night that would have tracked over. Home heating is a wood fire, so nothing there.

I just find it really odd that the scale on the app shows the same for both days but there is clearly much more usage on Saturday than Sunday, despite the costs being almost equal.

about 5 year ago i asked about this, and it was something like they get it in 2 bit - first bit - the total used, but it like midday to midday or something like that, but use it as they get it fast (that day) and can put it onto your bill, then at the end of the week they get the detail part, with the per hour reading - or was something like that, but give them a call and ask because the 1st line support had the info and was not had to get.

edit: aslo my brain saying the first midday reading is also the legal "day" that they can charge you for

From the images above: "Costs are based on estimated averages"

That says to me they are not your actual readings. I would give it another day or so for the actual data to come in.
