Down at the bach for the first time in months. The dryer was running a bit hot and not drying well so pulled the lint filter and a dead sparrow half falls out along with a bunch of straw!

It had got in through the external vent and built it's nest inside the vent tunnel inside the dryer. Looks like it was cooked in situ... dunno why it didn't just escape when the dryer was switched on. Had to pull the dryer down off the wall mount to clean it out as well as the thru-wall vent itself. At least there were no eggs or babies.

Now bird-proofed with chicken wire.

We have a 3-flap cover on the horizontal wall vent outlet, as it stops cold air backflow as well as birds and other wildlife.

Even with the lint filter there is still a good coating of fluff in our vent. Any grill will need to be cleaned off from time to time to stop it blocking.
