ok so i have a few soldering irons that cater for my basic needs (from a pencil tip for pcb work to a 5mm chisel for medium work)

But i need something a bit more "professional" for a business venture im starting.

I need a good high power iron that can easily solder 12 gauge wire to things, something like a temp controlled 5mm tip with high thermal mass?

any soldering station suggestions that meet the above?

cheers in advance

I just use my knockoff hakko for everything I need. Was about $20US and a little more for delivery from china. Works great and the tips are all over the place in a wide variety of types.

+ 1 for Pace gear. We use it at work for everything from surface mount work all way up to large conductors. Huge range of tips, irons and good support too.

Same. Mine is a FX-951 so a bit more than $20 (it was about $70 from memory), but with a genuine Hakko pencil and tip. Those are relatively cheap, it's the main unit that costs an arm and a leg. I'd never want to go back to something simpler, it'd be like going back to the dark ages in terms of tools.

Ive suggested a couple of friends get this one from hobbyking since it comes with a legit AU plug on it, which some people really obsess over. Seems identicle to the similiar priced one I got off aliexpress that came with a chinese plug.

Not sure if them selling thru an AU warehouse makes them have to meet any standards or not, and I found nothing wrong with my Chinese sourced one. Earth was intact, which is about all they really seem to do wrong over there.

I have an 60w (adjustable) soldering station I bought from Jaycar.

I've rewired my boat with it (a lot of connections) and used it for a lot of DC auto-electrical work as well.

It's been good for anything from 18 AWG to 10 AWG wiring.

Probably not the size you're looking for but I have a Goot px-201. And I've used other Goot irons in the past and really like them.
