I have a Scorpion Z6L home alarm which was installed in 2004, last year I replaced the battery which had died.
Now I'm having trouble with the micron touch pad not working can't punch in my numbers. Contacted the original installer to which he advised =
If your keypad is faulty then it normally requires it to be replaced. This job is normally not DIY and requires an alarm technician to complete and program. You could try contacting Micron directly to see if they'll supply you with the components, but hard to say what exactly may be the issue.
Personally we find the Micron alarms can be a bit temperamental and unreliable at times, so if anything major like the keypad or control panel is broken/faulty, we usually recommend upgrading to another system such as Paradox which we find much more reliable and robust. Let me know if you'd like me to quote on that for you.
He has quoted me price to replace with a Paradox alarm system has anyone had this system installed and give me some feed back? Or do I try and find a replacement Micron touch pad and fit it?

From my (admittedly limited) knowledge, the keypad is usually simply fed by a 4-wire cable from the control box, a power pair and a signalling pair. I would doubt there would be any programming involved in simply replacing a keypad. I quick google found this: http://www.micronsecurity.com/products.php?id=32

 

The only NZ Distributor seems to be in Ellerslie, Auckland.

I have had the same Paradox alarm panel and keypad since 1996. Only ever had to replace the battery (3x incl today).

 

 

 

A mate of mine is one of the owners of the NZ distributor for Paradox. Excellent product which they have been distributing since 1990.
