I need to replace my 120watt ES/E27 flood light bulbs and I thought I'll just upgrade the whole unit to an LED unit, but then I found these on eBay (see link below) and I was wondering if anybody else has replaced there outdoor flood light bulbs with LED equivalent?

I've just noticed that these are E26 variant and might have a lower voltage of 110V.

I don't think non name LEDs are yet very reliable long term, compared to the price, unless you go for a brand like philips. I ahve had a lot of cheaper LED bulbs blow after less than a year. Whereas decent brands are still going. What about CFL ones? They should be cheaper and use only slightly more power than LEDs

I find CFL security lights a pain depending on the use....its the warm up time that gets me ripe when all one wants is instant light.

Reasonable price if you buy today using the code "2ndbday". I find the normal phillips incandes par38s to be about $15-20 bucks anyway.

The new generation ones should be pretty good. The old gen CFLs used to take a while to warm up, but the new ones are pretty good. I have purhcased 2 proper LED flood lights, both around the $100 mark, and both have now failed after just a couple of years. As the bulbs can't be replaced, as it is part of the fitting, I have to get the entire fitting replaced with is a pain. Is suspect there are a lot of rubbish LEDs being imported.

the arlecs are horrible color. Well past 6500k and almost no CRI.

I got some of the LED bulbs from Lighting Plus. But of of them needs to be returned and swapped as it flashed on at turn on and now no longer works. Not a great start. I would send it to youtuber, bigclive for a electrical autopsy, but since it's under warranty.

The bulb is made from a SMD LED array.
