Hello All,

I did a quick search and didn't come back with anything recent, so am posting anyhow - I am thinking about getting a blower/vac for driveway/around the house as I have spent too much time on the end of a broom over the last ~20 years.

Its not a massive space, but maybe 50m of driveway (if I could be bothered going that far), and not much around the house, just in and around a garage.

I like the idea of battery but just don't know...the thought of having petrol/oil/etc laying around, just for this one device is a little "ugh"....but keen to hear peoples thoughts/impressions/recommendations.

My experience is that the vacuum part of a blower vac is next to useless. I've had a few from cheap electric to expensive petrol and they always clog up and you spend more time pulling them apart from actually sucking anything up. Best to just use them to blow leaves into a pile and manually pick them up the old fashioned way.

With that said, if you're prepared to go blower only and want to try battery I can't say enough good things about my Ego blower. I'm invested in the Ego ecosystem with the mower and line trimmer but the blower is by far the best of the trio. Its power is at least as good, if not better than the last petrol model I bought. Easy to adjust the power too, so you get better control when trying to form a nice pile to make it easier to pick up.

Thanks for the comments (so far) I wonder if the difference between a good one and an el cheapo is like 50% or more...or is it like a difference of only 10%? ie is it worth spending the extra for a better brand?

Thinking that its probably not something you want to be swearing/cursing at for its lack of blow...

Blower works really well. Vac is a bit more iffy. You've basically got to be over the leaves to get enough suction. I guess this kind of makes sense if you compare to an indoor vacuum cleaner where you use a head to make a seal.

Most of my outdoor tools are mains powered. Seems to me to be a reasonable balance between power and just being able to plug it in and go. Cord doesn't bother me, but I've also got plenty of convenient power plugs.
