I have a couple of quotes to replace 40 halogens with LED downlights.

One quote is 15 percent cheaper than the other but I see that the Ambius downlights quoted for have an estimated life expectancy of 25000 hours compared with the Hugo lights in the other quote's 40000 hours. Can I assume that the Hugo lights are a higher quality light based on life expectancy ?   Are there other issues I should consider? Thanks for any information supplied.

Look at it this way. If your lights are on 6 hours a day, for 365 days a year, they should last about 11 years.
So in reality much longer. This being said, there will most likely be premature failures so buy a few extra leds to have on hand to replace as in a year so that exact led will probably not be available.
