Evening,

Not exactly sure where to post this.

I have a Panasonic heat pump with remote. It appears to be this model.

Sometimes, for whatever reason, when I change the temp on the remote it is not received by the unit. So the remote goes from say 20C to 21C on the remote's screen but the unit does not change it's output temp (I know this because when it does receive a command from the remote, it beeps). Also, if I say take the batteries out of the remote, it seems to reset to 25C on the screen.

How do I then track what *actual* temp the unit is set to? It was set to 22C on the remote and the room felt a cold, I put my hand in front of the unit and the air coming out was decidedly cold.

Appreciate any assistance on this.

Just dial up the settings you want and re-send the signal again. The unit will change to what you set it to. You don't need to track anything..the unit will do whatever the last command was that it received.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Buy a new remote, maybe eBay has the correct one or a generic.

The temp setting is whatever the display shows, when the unit has given the confirming beep. If your batteries are too flat, or you're holding the remote wrong (light has to come out the end to communicate) you won't get any response from the unit, and the display reading will not be in sync with the unit output.

To explain further, the heat pump remote sends the full settings each and every time you change a single setting.

Eg. if you change the temperature, it will send the temperature as displayed, the vent direction, on/off, timer settings - everything.

You can try this too - block the IR led at the top of the remote. Change the vent louver direction. Unblock the IR led and then change the temperature up by 1 degree. The louvers will start to move too.
