I will be checking the system in the roof tomorrow.

check the fuse board... see if someone has pulled the fuse. (and you may want to pull it / trip it if you are going to tinker in the roof). 

If it doesnt have its own dedicated fuse then one would hope its been tapped off another power circuit and not the light circuit ! 

While you are up there, remove the filters and carefully wash n dry them. (google it).
