For any SmartVent owners out there, when the fan is on full can you feel a decent breeze coming from the outlets in the rooms?

I have had the Evolve Synergy balanced system installed recently with 5 outlets and even when it is on boost I can hardly feel any air movement from any of the outlets.

I can definitely feel (and hear) the the air being drawn into the intake when it is going though.

I had hoped to feel a bit more air movement in the house, but perhaps I was unrealistic in my expectations.

Cheers J.

Based on what I was told by HRV which I assume also applies for Smart vent. It seems that the more vents you have the less air pressure comes out of each vent.  So essentially the same amount of air is being distributed in the  house regardless of the number of vents

how was it setup?

We have a DVS and 1/2 the air is going to living room, the other half is split between the 3 bedrooms.

standing normally you cant feel anything when the fan is on full in the bedrooms but putting your hand up against the ceiling you can feel a gentle breeze.

in the living room i can feel it while sitting on the couch, im about 3m away from the vent.

I think it's just the same spread across the 5 outlets. For me to feel any breeze, I have to have my hand about 2cm from the outlet opening.

They are the screw-in types that can be closed.

I might try closing a few and see what the difference is.

Sounds perfect to me - you've confirmed that it's moving the air, but it doesn't create an uncomfortable draft as you go about your life.

Presumably you procured it to address a problem - moisture on windows, musty smell, etc - so if that problem is gone, then it's doing it's job.

With Smart Vent in our old house you could feel air-flow if you placed you hand close to the vents but it wans't noticeable walking around the room. We had 2.7m studs and I am just over 1.8m tall.

These system aren't mean to move a high volume of air like an extractor fan.  Slow and steady is the idea.  Depending on the model it may have multiple speeds depending on temperature and time of day.

Thanks for that. I expect it is all working as intended.

Not sure why I thought it would blow more.

Haven't had it during the colder months yet where I expect it will come into its own.

It has the heat recovery/exchanger component, so if I was cooling the house using a heat pump on a hot day I guess it would be best to turn the SmartVent off during this time?

Our's had the heat exchanger too and it seemed to cool incoming air when outside was warmer.  That achieved a reasonable amount of cooling for us in summer (sunny location in Nelson).

In suspect you will find the house easier to cool with the heat pump once it's drier. With the house being drier, heat isn't as oppressive, so you may experience the same level of comfort at a slightly higher set-point.
