Do we have any expert plumbers on here?

I've got an inside plumbing connection which is designed to go either in the kitchen or laundry. It's NZ sized and goes into the water supply before it goes to the sink tap. I don't want to tap into this connection.

It's like the photo below, but with the branch off to a new line which is controlled by a ball valve but the main unit has a male and female end. I want to use this as the branch off is what I need.

So want I'm wanting to do is, on the end where water enters (i think that's the male end) connect this to a garden hose and on the female end put an end cap on there.

What size would all this be? from a ruler is seems about 21mm but should be a universal size I assume? where can I get parts to do something like this?

It's very close to this

You can get blanking caps to do that at Bunnings, and presumably other plumbing shops. I bought some a few weeks ago, couple of bucks each

Assume this is a connection for a water filter, coffee machine or similar. The sizing relates to the inside rather than the od. Your fitting would be nominally 15mm (1/2" BSP thread). The standard garden tap is normally is 15mm inlet, 20mm (3/4" BSP thread) outlet. I wouldn't use garden hose for any long term unattended connection.

Judging it by eye. It will be 15mm BSP. The 15mm is a nominal size, so won't relate to an actual physical measurement.
