I'm wondering if this is possible, and cost efficient.

Want to fit bigger sinks to kitchen but don't want to buy new bench top.

Is that possible?

Forgot to mention existing bench top is just some thin wooden one.

It certainly is possible, provided the bench top is wide enough and the cupboards underneath don't have any major conflicts.
The easiest type to fit is an overlay type. You just need to cut the hole to the right size, sit the new sink in place and tighten up the clamping brackets.
This assumes that you can get the old sink out without wrecking the benchtop.
