I'm moving soon into a place that needs blinds or curtains though the whole place and going to do blinds

Do I order standard roller blinds and order motor off aliexpress

Or order locally with motor

Its a new build but no wiring is in place although its a 2 story so I could get into the ceiling space and retro fit wires into the upstairs windows the downstairs will have to be battery powered.

Does anyone have a good solution for me, I'm happy to do a bit of DIY if I saves me a buck or two.

Where do you live?

Window Treatments here in Christchurch advertise automated roller blinds. I would guess they are pretty pricey though?

somfy is a product that i have used before and they work quite well, they have wired motors and wireless motors, I have a set of somfy older gen blinds in the shed and they work really well

here is a link to the battery operated motors https://www.somfy.com.au/products/1002459/roll-up-28-rts-wirefree it looks like the battey pack is seperate to the motor but you should be able to hide it between the blind and then window

Broadlink RM Pro, Homeassistant... Amazon Echo gives the voice control.

We recently got blinds installed. Wish that I'd ordered ones like what Talkiet recommended. We still have another room to do so thanks for the tip!

Update: I just ordered some small solar panels that will hopefully sit up and out of the way and keep the batteries charged.

At the moment about once every 2-3 weeks one of the 4 blinds has to be charged overnight
