Hi there

I'm about to order a new front door, double glazed with al frame. I have to decide on a lock before they can go ahead as it affects the door design. Was keen to do a low cost electronic digital lock such as the yale but they said that is no good as it doesn't have a latch. On this forum some people said don't touch the yale one with the handle as its rubbish and breaks easily.

I have been to a  house where they have a wooden door that presumably has a normal key deadbolt (can't recall but not electronic) and its just a hard push/pull to close or open. I have no idea how this works but seems a better idea than a separate latch.  Anyone know what this is called and whether it can be put on an al door?

thanks

I have the Yale digital latching one on the garage. Digital pad is good, but the handle is a bit rubbish and it *really* doesn't like it if you try and turn the handle while it's locking/unlocking. I'm not sure I'd recommend that one, but am planning on getting the Yale deadbolt when I replace the front door shortly. Obviously it will need a separate latch/handle as well, but I am totally happy with that.

Selling factor for me was being able to run it purely locally, or add either a zigbee or z-wave networking component.
