Why do you need to remove it? I put pink bats over mine, huge improvement.

Sticking bats over a majority of it, but want to install recessed lights and an extractor fan in 3 rooms. Was a bit worried on how well it can handle the lights.

Had a house load of insufluff removed about 6 years ago.  Cost almost $1,000.

Might be easier just to put a bucket around the lights. You should of course have sealed LED downlights with a rating for the unit to be covered, so it should be ok anyway, but doesn't hurt to clear it out. The LED driver tends to need to be on top of the insulation.

Where are you located?
I had a quote from these guys at $970 +GST and included travel to Tauranga from Auckland but a couple of years ago. http://fluffbusters.co.nz/

Could try these http://insultech.co.nz/insulation-removals/

I've also had a pleasant experience with fluffbuster, highly recommended.

For the cost of about 20 large plastic rubbish bags, I put on overalls, face mask and got up in the ceiling and removed about 1/3 of the insulfluff myself.
