People frequently exchange info here on DIY things to buy/work with, I thought I'd start a thread on stuff to avoid: Mako Epoxy from the Warehouse. I was helping a friend fix some kids things and the Warehouse was the closest and this stuff was the cheapest, it wasn't worth spending three times as much on epoxy as the thing was worth. There's a reason why it's cheap, it comes in a double-syringe arrangement but they've cut so many corners that it's unusable. There's no gaskets on the plungers, they rely on the plunger size being slightly bigger than the syringe tube for an airtight seal, which means it's almost impossible to push the plungers down. The nozzles where the epoxy and hardener come out are badly moulded and had to be cut back manually to allow anything to come out, after which see the note on the plungers. Finally, the cap they provide doesn't come close to fitting, see the note on the nozzles, so you're throwing the unused remainder away, I put tape over it but I don't know how long that'll last.

Next time I'll go a bit further to Bunnings/M10 and get Parfix (= Selleys) in squeeze tubes at almost the same price.

If you drop it in hot water to warm it up, the epoxy becomes thinner(?) & is much easier much to get out.

Really helps if your epoxy is in plastic bottles

Ive never liked those plunger things for epoxy .

The epoxy itself though, is that doing its job ?

"Apart from that Mrs.Lincoln what did you think of the show?".

Too early to tell, our playtesters still need to evaluate it.
