Decided we needed a DVS type system preferably a balanced type as we have an airtight new house.  Got one of the big names around and was gobsmacked by the price.  More than double what I was expecting.  Cant even imagine how with the basicness of the system, you could get to that kind of price.  So am searching for a reliable but cheaper installer who can deliver a ventilation system preferably a balanced type but would consider PP as well.

Just need something that is going to do the trick.  And yes, all our windows are left on the latch, 24/7 but due to being up high we get a lot of low cloud in the winter.

Anybody, have any recommendations for someone reliable.  Was even thinking of buying a system offshore and getting someone to install it.  Don't know if this is feasible.

Thanks all.

What was the quote, for how many outlets? I got a quote from Cleanaire about 5 years ago, didn't go ahead, but it seemed ok.

They do seem fairly expensive for a fan, ducting, ceiling diffusers, and maybe a heat exchanger. I had a new fan put into my old system not that long ago, with a new filter box and filter, even that cost $900. Of that fan was about $350, labor $250, filter and box $150, 3m ducting was $20, couple of diffusers were $40 each.

I'd second cleanaire. We've just put two of them in new rental houses.

We went for DIY install (with sparky doing their bit). Cleanaire supply a layout plan etc.
