My ventilation system uses what the vendor has called a "Simx G4 cartridge filter". I think its the Simx DCT2222 from this page. Basically, it's a cardboard box with a filter glued in, plastic panels with ducts attach to each side of the filter. Pics below.

Does anyone know where to source this cartridge filter? The Simx website "find a supplier" is terrible. I was told "an electrical wholesaler". I don't just want to order that given I've taken a guess about the part number, and getting it down from the ceiling would be a hassle.

I think this filter is good for a bit longer - they start out bright white and get replaced when you think it needs to be done. It draws air in directly from outside, which is apparently non-standard, but our roof space is horribly dirty / smells and has rodent droppings, rodent poison, etc.

Pop into an elec. wholesaler as you were advised, with that part number and they'll certainly be able to help

Somewhere such as:

JA Russell/Radcliffe Electrical

Corys

Ideal electrical

Thanks, I was hoping someone could help confirm the part number matches the photo. I'll try emailing a wholesaler I guess.

I'm not confirming that the number matches, easiest way is to get the number from the filter itself in the roofspace and take that in, it'll be on a sticker on the filter itself from memory

Yeah I climbed up again and found a sticker on the bottom with the part number, so I just need to get a price now. Thanks :)

A G4 isn't very good. The number is a performance value

HEPA is a 13.

Airflow could be reduced through stronger filters if the fans are weak.

I was going to get F7 but the installer said they reduce airflow a lot. Before I had the G4 there was no filter at all, ie the same as opening a window, so G4 was an improvement. I guess the better filters need to be changed more often as well.

My system is custom and very basic, it just draws air in from outside and blows it into two rooms in the house. This is because the ceiling space is really dirty, rat droppings, lots of insulation, old building paper, etc - filters tend to go back really quickly. I only run it a few hours a day, it works very well for what I need, which is just to put fresh dry air into the house. I would like a heat exchange ventilation system but it's not worth the money for this house.
