Does anyone have experience of the Weber 1000 (or 2000) BBQ. I don't think I need dual zone.

 

I am thinking of a new BBQ.

 

I spent quite a bit on money on a Rinnai Stainless Steel 5 Burner BBQ. Overall, my thoughts are, not all parts can withstand the NZ weather i.e. rust.

 

And the LPG cylinder rusts like anything.

 

So, I am thinking of a Weber 1000 Electric BBQ, and placed on a simple outdoor table.

 

That way, I can move both to undercover shelter.

My experience with any Weber bbq has been that they hold up well to rust.

 

Not sure why the carbon fiber/composite LPG containers arent standard in NZ, given how many people live along the coast.

Probably because they are expensive,

and when you also factor in the re certification cost at 10 years, a $50 steel bottle that gets "recycled" after a decade comes out as the cheapest option.....

Got given a Weber® Q Premium (Q2200) Gas Barbecue Titanium for my 60th - have never looked back.

 

My only bit of advice is get one of their thermometers iGrill Mini. These I use for all my roasts. Mine is one of their original so is not bluetooth capable but it is still great.

 

Have yet to use my indoor oven for roasts.

The thread title is "Weber Electric BBQ", so perhaps the OP is talking about the Weber Pulse 1000 and not the Baby Q 1000? Maybe some clarification please from @alisam?

Electric bbq? For real? It's like dragging an electric oven outside.. Where's the fun in that? Wheres the smoke and fire?

Get a Weber charcoal bbq. I got one after owning gas BBQs and haven't looked back. Makes outdoor cooking an experience and not just a sausage sizzle. Plus they never crap out I did a cook on my 28 year old Weber go anywhere just the other day.

Sorry just my 2 cents... Feel free to get whatever you want. Horses for courses and all.

I have an electric Weber one in Seattle and gas 2200 in Christchurch

They’re both great, but the gas one is better.

Electric is convenient because I live in a condo with a small outside deck

If you want to avoid your gas bottle rusting, don’t leave it outside when not using it - that’s what we do.

Just checked the specs of our Q2200. The frame is not just ‘plastic’ - it’s ‘glass-reinforced nylon’. Certainly has a solid and premium feel to it.

I have a Pulse 2000, preferring the 2 elements for more heat and the bigger size over the 1000, to braai steaks perfectly.

 

I also have a Weber Q Premium (Q2200) and a Weber Kettle Charcoal (57cm).

 

In my view the best tasting braai is the Charcoal Weber, but I find myself using the Pulse weekly and gas maybe monthly for family BBQ occasions - my guests can't tell the difference between steaks from the Pulse vs those from the Q.

 

All Webers are great - some are just greater than others!
