Hi guys.

I have this doorworks at home to open/close the garage door, but it is bloody slow!

Does any of you know how to speed it up?

Thanks! :)

Replace the motor! I had one of these. We replaced it with one of the Merlin garage door openers - https://www.gomerlin.co.nz/garage-door-openers/ which are much faster.

Its just a slow motor on these Doorworks ones.

A 2JZ, RB26DETT or SR20 should do the trick.

Its either designed that way or a failing motor.
If it's a design issue then is there a way of putting a larger cog on the motor?
I assume the motor drives onto a chain.

I doubt there is a motor speed control - but hey - I could be wrong....

They're just slow. Keen to replace ours at some point, but it still works so not a high priority.

You'll need to provide a bit more detail than that, e.g. do you need to open the door more than once? Do you want to be able to close it again afterwards? How close are neighbouring properties? etc.

You could also use a Burmeister & Wain, which could pull the garage and/or house out of the way of the car. You'd just have to rig up some return pulley system to move it back over the top of the car afterwards.

Thanks guys for all the feedback.

There are some numbers on the doorworks from 1 to 8, currently 3 is selected, and I thought that would be the speed indicator. I thought that maybe changing that number will increase/decrease the speed. But I guess not :)

The place is rented so I won't change the motor or anything... not worth it.

Thanks again!

Yup unfortunately there is not speed setting on them. I know this since I had the garage door guys come to replace it for me. They originally installed one of these ~ 3 years ago. They mentioned - they are good for lightweight doors etc. but are on the slower end of the market.

We installed insulation and this ended up being too heavy on top of a slow motor already. I could have lifted the door faster :)
