Currently have a very old wired paradox alarm system installed with 3 sensors that doesn't work so good, and was looking to put in a new alarm, while trying to utilize the existing wiring.

Every time I search for an alarm system all I can find is wireless systems, which is nice but I would prefer to have a wired system.

Does anyone know where I can look for wired alarm systems that don't cost a bank?

Surely a quick search in your area would turn up multiple options for alarm installers?  You may find a label of the installers of your current system somewhere on the main control box (or inside)...possibly a good place to start.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

If you're looking to DIY, most electrical wholesalers will sell you a basic system kit for a few hundred bucks.

Probably the path I will take, they just don't advertise any prices.
Will have to go old school and talk to people about it.

Yeah, it's like getting blood from a stone.

They usually have a stack of specials books on the desk and there's often an alarm system in there, though. Or if you know a sparky.
