I need to build a gate/s (2 gates instead of 1 big one) on the driveway between the house and the fence.

The gate cannot be attached to the fence as its the neighbours and its on a lean so not stable.

The gap between house and fence is 2600mm.

I'm trying to avoid building a gate and buying are built ones but the sizes are not fit for what I need.

I have found pre-built gates at Mitre 10 & online at 1000mm wide.

If I went with 100 x 100mm posts and have them 100mm away from the house and fence, I still have to deal with 200mm gap.

Does anyone have any other ideas on what I could do or use or just suck it up and custom build the gate/s to the size I need?

The gate is being build to keep a dog in and not for any other reason.

Are you thinking of those prefinished aluminium gates, usually black? If so, Bunnings sell end pieces, so you can buy the 2.4m fence sections, cut to length, then add these end pieces to finish/stiffen. We did this for our baby gates

I was looking at them as an option, the gate converters do not come in 1750 high like some of the fences they offer so will not be able to convert that one.

We have just ordered new gates, the first thing anyone has said is you cant use a wooden post ( we used a 125 x 125 H5 treated going down 900mm ) the wood has warped and twisted and our existing gate can not open and close properly.

The installers are going to remove that post and replace with either a steel post or a LVL post 13 x 135. he recons it will never warp, twist or crack.

gate should be installed in the next two weeks - Yay.

I have two of these one unopened the other opened but unused.  They were intended for a project but they just didn't work.  Too big a gap between the hinge and the frame.

I brought them about six months ago.  Make me a half way decent offer and you can have them.
