I know its early days, but the victa auto power engine mower is cleaning up in reviews, 4.6/5 so far on product review.

https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/victa-82v-power-cut-883241

It uses a 1200w motor, which doesnt sound  a lot given some high end scooters use this size engine. But its powerful and only uses what is needed.

Its power bank is 1500w - charges in 30 minutes.

It also has a leave blower, line trimmer etc attachable using same power bank. Im yet to look into how good they are.

I have a gorgeous back lawn as long as you cut it bi weekly summer, monthly winter. This is plenty big enough for it.

So Im actually considering it. $550 is not a lot in mower terms, but feels a lot as is power driven. Will keep you informed.

I have all of these Victa 82v range tools.  The mower is amazing, as powerful as a 175cc Briggs and Stratton petrol mower and the other tools are a 10/10.  You won't regret buying the mower.

Wow, this does sound too good to be true. It seems affordable vs a high quality petrol. Had 5 yr warranty.

Most other reviews seem equally impressed.

Does charging for 30 mins work out at cheap as half a tank of petrol or whatever it would take equally?

I also like that its low noise? IM not sure if ear muffs are needed.

Ok i was sceptical about reviews but I trust you guys.

its a really well thought out product line.

I want a line trimmer and a leaf blower.

I was thinking blowing leaves onto lawn and just mulching. I do have a proper barrel mulcher for waste which I probably should put the leaves as much as I can in there and leaves the grass as much for the grass. But pohutukawa leaves are a PITA. On a deck, a broom does nothing. The leaf blower will be much more effective.

I was looking for a 21" self driven mower, so 18" is a worry. But measuring in my head, my lawn wraps around house, gets sun on all parts all day aside from dappled light from big pohutukawa which for some reason has the lawn grow faster in its shade this summer, it died in some parts. Such is tank water, but we considering running water up the long driveway and splitting cost with 4 neighbours. Then I will just use tap water for the garden as rain water tastes nice and I have it on a pump so is like high mains pressure, take your skin off haha. Will probably use free water first in reality then if have to use council water will do. I put $250 water in this year. Which is a lot less than I use to pay for water in a year in my apartment. And that was during a drought. Soil receeded 2 inches into literally rock.

I see this thread originally ran around 18 months back so as I'm considering getting a Victa 82V 21" mower I'm interested in how those Li-Ion batteries are holding up. I see a number of reviews coming from ProductReview AU that criticise declining battery capacity over time.

The other complication I've run into today is a local Victa agent getting back to me with Victa NZ telling them that the 82V is now/currently not able to be supplied. Unable to ascertain if that means that Victa have given up on this model in NZ so some more research needed in regard to this.

I've not noticed any decline in battery capacity - it still does all I need it to do with ease (1/4 charge remaining).  But what I have noticed is (1), it doesn't throw the cut grass into the catcher very well, especially when grass is damp; and (2), I wish I had bought 2 x 2Ah batteries for the infrequent times when the grass has got away on me, and have to double cut--but, on the other hand, charging is quick if you don't gulp your beer down too fast.

My batteries seem ok too, after probably 5 years (though we've got a Masport mower).  The charger has started to make a weird sound in past few months, though still seems to charge things.
