With the bar style of toilet roll holder, which way are they meant to go?

And most importantly, what side of the toilet should they go on.

Our three are all on the right and face as per your pic. This means that your hand wont bang the big metal knob as you reach for it. Easier access. The more import topic is where does the paper hang, on wall side or open air side. Open air side off course, so you don't touch the wall, and receive said paper 10.3 nanoseconds earlier...

+1 for paper coming from air side.

It grinds my gears when people insist on having it wall side. It doesn't make any logical sense!

Also put a power point and water inlet connection next to your toilet for your new build. Electric bidet seats are the way to go. Less TP used and more hygienic. You wash rest of your body everyday, why not the butthole?

The wall side doesn't allow your domestic staff any scope for practicing paper folding or Toilegami.

Free /load end forward.

So it doesn't end up in the floor a pile of mess when you are rolling it off somewhat toward your assumed position/location.

Of course the paper hangs on the open air side, I’m not an animal.

Seems like there is no set standard. My builder said they usually go on the right, but as a tight handed person it’s more comfortable teaching with my right hand over to the left.

The only time you'd ever want to do this is if you have a dog or cat that's picked up the habit of unrolling 300m of toilet paper onto the floor by paddling it with their paws, wall-side makes this close to impossible.

That's so five minutes ago, the current trend is padlockigami.

Wall side exit - don't like scraggly bits front and centre, much better when tucked against the wall.

And give the roll a wee squeeze so the inner roll is no longer circular - stops the roll from spinning around like a slot machine. But don't overdo the squeeze, otherwise you'll only be getting a square at at time. (depending on perf strength .....)

My thoughts are no longer my own and is probably representative of our media-controlled government

I moved mine from the right to the left. But that's because I bought the wrong sort so it wouldn't mount on the right anymore.

In terms of the roll, I put it the other way to the partner just for kicks.
