Hey team, not sure if anyone can comment on this but we moved into this house a couple of years ago and have noticed that it's always super dusty. Bedroom side tables get wiped down weekly and they are quite covered.

Same with the couches in lounge when you sit on them and he sun is shining you can see a cloud of dust.

The only thing I can think of is it might be the HRV system as the dust is all over he house.

Filters have been replaced which are rated at 0.4 microns

Anyone have tips?

TIA

Do you know if you have insulfluff in the ceiling? I've seen this effect with insulfluff even when covered by batts or similar

Power off the HRV unit for a week and this will tell you, I recently had a new HRV unit installed about 4 - 5 weeks ago and have not noticed more dust

Our house was built in 1993 with no HRV and it’s dusty af. Is annoying wiping everything down and it being dusty again a week later.

Going from no filter on our ventilation system to a HEPA filter made a big difference. I wonder if the dust is just being stirred up by the ventilation system, maybe it's time for a big wipe down of ceiling and walls and then a carpet clean?

I think it's just the ventilation blowing the existing dust around

Yeah, gota get all the current dust out. A really good wipe down of ceiling and walls, then furniture, then get a good carpet cleaning firm in.

Ive found a lot of the dust comes from the carpet breaking down, once I removed that from the room then a huge reduction in dust happened.

All really good points thanks. You might be spot on for the HRV just blowing around existing dust.

Mrs does a pretty thorough dust and clean.

Dyson Vac picks up a ton of dust every time so it's either carpet needs a deep clean or carpet is breaking down

Thanks y'all
