Hi all

We have currently some R80 light bulbs 60W 80 degrees beam angle.  I have looked at some LED bulbs on the Bunnings and Mitre 10 websites and they all state 120 or 180 angle beam are those suitable?

Also what about the wattage?  Phillips has 10W LED which it says is equivalent to a 80W bulb.  There is also a 7W LED bulb, is this better?

Cheers.

Depends how much light you want out of one fitting. I'd be going for higher beam angle myself, to light the area well

Do you know how many lumens those lamps put out? Again, I'd be going for 10W personally

We have R80 bulbs in our bathrooms.  After considering replacing the entire fittings we ended up getting these:  https://www.lightingplus.co.nz/product/led-lamps-and-lightbulbs-2/led-r-80-10-w-e-27-reflector-lamp-4000-k

You will need to consider the size/use of the room (how much light you want) and what colour temperature (warm or cool white).  They make a HUGE difference over the traditional bulbs.

We have brought most of our lights and bulbs from Lighting plus.  Often cheaper and better quality than the hardware store or supermarket version - and professional advice.  Most of their bulbs have at least a 1 year warranty or more also.

Thanks all, so it seems like we can go with either.

No idea.  The place already had them when we moved in here.  We do have a halogen bulb and the box still.  It makes no mention of lumens.  FWIW, a 60W R80 bulb at Bunnings list it as 260 lumens 80 deg beam on their website.  Warm white for a bedroom, there are like 4 or 6 of them there.  The bulb we pull off says 60W 80 deg beam ... so if the Bunnings website shows a 60W 80deg beam it list it as 260 lumens.
