Weather is too hot for our oven!.

Heard an almighty glass crash and rushed around my house to see if there were any broken windows. Returned to the kitchen to find the oven outer glass door panel had exploded over the kitchen floor.

Oven is a Fisher and Paykel Elba electric with gas top. Could be 12 years or more old.

Now to look for a door or new oven.

Fisher & Paykel are very good with stocking and supplying spare parts even for older appliances. Contact them with the model number of your oven and see if you can buy and replace.

Do whatever you want to do man.

Had something similar happen but with a glass pyrex oven dish which exploded  mid cook.. sounded like a grenade went off and scared the living bajebus out of us.. worst thing is it happened again about 8 months later.. we had our oven looked at because we thought it was a bit off, turns out the thermostat in it was faulty and it wasn't regulating temps properly going ultra high and low ultra high and low.

No wonder my cakes were always lob sided!

Even at 12 years old, I'd be hitting them up for at least a discount on a replacement door. It's not like you caused the damage, and it's hard to call an exploding an expected failure due to it being old. It doesn't hurt to ask, the worst they can do is say no.

Was the oven being used at the time, or cooling down from having just been used?

Oven hadn't been used for about 5 days.... Door hadn't been subject to any abnormal use...

I am waiting to hear back from an email sent to  parts@fp.co.nz (recommended contact given by an 0800 enquiry)
