OK, this may be a wee bit niche, but here goes :-)
We're currently getting a new kitchen installed. We had initially chosen a traditional quartz based manufactured benchtop (Silestone is the brand), but we have since found out that these quartz based benchtops are only heat resistant, and can actually be damaged by heat shock if a hot pot or pan is placed directly on them.
The same manufacturer has another product, Dekton, which is also quartz based, but is compacted with glass and porcelain. It is meant to be heat proof, and will allow hot pots and pans without the risk of heat shock. It is also more scratch and stain resistant than the more traditional manufactured quartz based benchtops. But I'm seeing mixed reports that they may be more prone to chipping.
Does anyone here have experience with either of these products, and is able to comment? In particular I'm interested in finding out if there is actually anything to worry about with Dekton and the reports that it may be more susceptible to chipping. So reports from anyone who has installed this would be very helpful.
I'm not interested in suggestions for other products, as at this late stage we can only choose between these two.
