Hi guys,

We own a 10 year old terrace house and the exterior is made of brick.

Does anyone know what kind of material nowadays do builders usually use under the carpet? Would it be wood or some sort of concrete?

Well wood and concrete will feel and sound pretty different.

Concrete being extremely hard and quiet when you jump on the floor.

Can you get under the floor? - if not - more likely concrete I guess.

Concrete slabs have been the favoured floor choice for developers for a while...

You can tell by walking outside you house and looking at what material you can see at ground level, - also if it was wood, it would need vents along the outside to allow ventilation,

But the easiest way is to poke around with a screwdriver in a corner and see whats under the carpet...

Ground floor almost definitely concrete, upper floors are most likely strandboard/particle board or possibly concrete

Concrete slab underneath and likely CLT or board or similar for your upper floors. Could also be concrete, really depends on the developer. Have seen both but timber products far more common.
