Any recommendations for Self propelled petrol lawn mowers.

looking at options like Ryobi, Victa, Lawnmaster or Masport.

Area to mow is around 2500-3000 sqm. Doesn't need a ride on.

Any suggestions, as I have narrowed down to 4 below, but suggestions welcome if something better.

I bought the Hyundai self propelled, electric start model from trade tested, which is basically the same engine as the Ryobi, Subaru, whatever else brand. It is monstrously powerful, but is pretty cheap and nasty in some ways. The Mulching plus, is hard plastic, on steel, it easily dislodges. I love it still, compared to the 3 other mowers I own, it basically mows over anything, long wet grass etc. The big problem, and it's really annoying, is how un-manoeuvrable is it. It's very heavy and is like a huge boat to turn around. for what I paid, compared to the nearest 'better' brand with a lower spec engine, I am happy overall.

Money no object, I'd have bought the next most expensive model with the same or only marginally less powerful motor, the torque was what I wanted.

I had a masport president for a few years now, self propelled is great on flat even terrain, if the ground is a bit rough it struggles, so it has to be pushed to get traction again

Reading the reviews on ryobi.co.nz should be enough to put you off buying any Ryobi petrol lawn mower.

Any reason why you prefer petrol?

At that price point, some of the electric ones looks pretty cool. From what I hear they are pretty quiet too, and low maintenance. I supose it depends on what size you need to mow.

I have 820m2 section, less house deck, drive and gardens leaves approx. 320m2 lawns.
30-40mins mowing.
If 3000m2 that would be 5-8 hours continuous mowing.

That is commercial grade mowing equipment.

I would have thought that was well within sheep or goats territory...

I have the self-propelled Lawnmaster - it's pretty basic, but it's built like a Russian car. If it breaks, kick it and it starts working again.
