So I'm trying to install a cat door on our front door.
Its a wooden door I've done this before, should be a quick job...
Start drilling and hit something hard. Seems to be a steel or fiberglass plate going through. No drill bits can even go through it!! Even bits I've used to go through stainless before will not penetrate this stuff.

Anyone know what this material could be and is putting a cat door through this stuff even doable?

Sounds like a fire door. If so you won’t be drilling through it in a hurry.

I'm sorry but it sounds like your door is made from Inconel. You'll just have to move house if you want a cat door.

Perhaps a picture of the door will have someone recognize what make it is and what it might be?

More to the point, if it is a fire door then you shouldn't be drilling (and then cutting) through it.

Before continuing you need to find out if it is a fire door. Tampering with a fire door can lead to a big expensive slap on the wrist.

Would you have a fire door as the front door?
