Anyone else have Panasonic heat pump. Mine had this annoying hissing nose when starting up and then the noise goes away when it’s running. Sounds like has moving. Hopefully not a leak otherwise all gas would have leaked by now isn’t it?
Have checked other brands at friends places no such sound. Also had a look at similar model running at someone’s place and couldn’t hear this sound. I can record it and upload if that helps.

I have a Z50VKR downstairs and I think I know what you're describing. Sounds like gas circulating through, particularly when it first turns on, and sometimes when it kicks in again after idling for a while.

I had a Panasonic ducted until I told them to remove it. Horrible loud thing it was, but mine didn't make that particular noise. Have you asked Panasonic or your installer?

Haven’t asked Panasonic yet, planning to. Installer said it’s normal and implied that I’m worrying too much over nothing.

Yes exactly. My model is CS-E15PKR. How old is yours? Still making that noise? I guess it’s normal if it’s happening on yours too? I’ll upload a recording of one tonight or tomorrow. Would appreciate if you can listen and let me know if its the same as yours.

Only on cooling mode right? If so very normal, both my smaller Mitsubishi units do it. The larger Daikin one in the lounge doesn't, but I think its just because it has a much bigger louder fan that drowns the sound out.

I don't have a Panasonic any more, I had it removed, replaced with Daikin which is quieter and better in every way. Mine never hissed, it was just super loud running.

First & 2nd are during warmup and third is after 2-3 minutes with hot air coming out, you can still here very little hissing but I guess fan sound suppresses it.

That doesnt sound normal to me. I suggest getting the authorised repair agent to have a listen of those audio clips and see what they reckon.

Every heat pump I have ever had has internal blow off sounds as it releases the high pressure gas into the pipes but it sounds more like a short "Pish" sound during startup.

Does yours do in both modes cooling and heating, mine does in both.

Ours is about 20 months old - I've had a listen to your recordings and it is different to the sound ours makes. The sound I hear coming from ours is more in line with what Ray has described.

@raytaylor here it is, I’ve combined the first and second. Will try the installer first, then Panasonic. Other authorised installers won’t come as they have nothing to gain.

We get odd noises in defrost mode during winter. As expected they often pre-charge and suck some room temp out to make sure the outside unit reaches a temp so it doesn't start cold

But if you are using it for cooling this time of year. I would expect it may be the reverse? Dr google suggests 'normal' is pipe pressure equalized, and then adjusting into the mode you have selected? I'd have thought a leak hiss would go so far until it had none left...

Could always try putting it to heat instead to narrow down to some extent.

I believe it's coming out of the nanoe-G thing. Tried turning it off from remote, noise went away and then the heat pump also did nothing for few minutes. Tried cleaning the tip with bud but still same. When the unit is powered up again nanoe-G turns back on. Wonder if there is a way to completely turn it off. I use Sensibo so had to find my remote to turn of nanoe-G.
