Has anyone tried or heard of EVS Glazing, they offer a retrofit of triple glazing, basically it looks like they fix a upvc double glazed window to the outside of your existing window. Trying to find the best option for an older home without losing character.

It says it stops drafts, but can the windows still be opened? Seems like it should be one or the other. Better to get proper double glazing, windows that close and seal properly, they look fine on older houses.

I guess their draught stopping is this https://evsglazing.nz/EVS_Draughtstops.html rather than a feature of the added glass.

We will most likely go for retrofit double glazing, we have a couple of prices but I'm just looking at all options and came across this, a technique I hadn't heard of before.

Hey, I'm Sorry I didn't see this two years ago! And no doubt by now, you will have retro glazed. I appreciate your enthusiasm for proper double glazing, but it's important to highlight that EVS triple glazing isn't just another option—it's a proven innovation. Unlike standard double glazing, the EVS system is the only retrofit solution fully tested by BRANZ, ensuring it meets rigorous New Zealand standards. We've successfully retrofitted thousands of homes, delivering superior energy efficiency and comfort. With EVS, you’re not just adding another pane of glass; you’re investing in a scientifically backed, thoroughly tested product that leads the market in performance and reliability
