Apologies if this is already covered topic I found an old one dated 2016. My spa has finally arrived I ordered it in October last year good things take time. I ended up with. Hydra from galaxy spas, I ended up with a new model as they no longer make the one I ordered. I haven’t set it up yet as waiting for sparky to hard wire it.It came with a start up kit but I also found this product online . Has anyone used this tablet before as a chlorine alternative?

Yes. Have been using SS in our spa for a few years. Tablet sits in a basket in the pool. No smell like chlorine and no testing either. I put a reminder on my phone calendar for a replacement tablet. We started off with clean water in the pool (ie no chlorine) and just put the simple silver in.

IMO much better than chlorine.

Thank you , do you need to add anything else during the year or just the tablet?

On the other hand, when I asked our local spa supplies/maintenance shop (Clorogene) about silver they said whenever they saw water quality problems it was usually because they weren't using chlorine.

Chlorine seems to be the best option, I did read that if heavy use with silver then it may need to be shocked . I would of liked a salt pool but bit out of my budget. would prefer to use a non chlorine product if possible

my swimming pool (35,000L) uses silver and copper to keep it clean and clear. it has a small level of oxidiser at about 0.5ppm.

Havent had an issue in the 9 months we have had it.

Just the tablet. Our spa only gets light use. Really doesn’t justify the cost of running it at the moment. But that’s not a battle I’m willing to enter into!

This article indicates that if you use it, you need to rigorously follow the filter cleaning regimen, or you can still end up growing nasty pathogens

( I'm assuming this is because there is less room for error as opposed to using chlorine)

Wow that’s not good , I was planning on doing a seasonal clean twice a year where I drain the pool and filter clean every three months . I was given 2 extra filters so can swap them round. Thank you for sharing

We change our filters every month. As I said, only lightly used. We have 3 filter cartridges which we rotate through.

We have a Sundance Spa pool. Installed in 2018, we have been using Bromine without and issues. The Spa water stays crystal clear and balanced with steady 7.2 PH and gets emptied and refilled about every 6 months. We shock dose it fortnightly and use 2 to 3 bromine tablets per week. The filters are cleaned at every shock dose and replaces after 12 months.  Over chemical way lower than our previous Spa which we used Chlorine granules which needed more maintenance and additional treatment.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Thanks for all the replies, I brought a simple silver pack today . I can’t try it unfortunately as unpacked the spa delivered this week and there is damage to the wooden frame of the pool. It has a ten year warranty but wanted to at least try the thing first. I ordered it in November arrived this week
