Our outside tap leaks when you turn it on, leaking out the spindle (the bit you turn)

Are the washers standard for these or do I need to figure out the tap size??  I found these and wonder if they will be what I need.

Spindle packers or washers depend on the type of tap.

Have you tried tightening the spindle gland nut? If there is one.

For older outside taps I have use PTFE thread tape wrapped many times around the spindle before refitting and tightening the the gland nut.

I usually just fit a new tap when they start to leak. Reminds me that I need to replace the front tap.
