Looking for a recommendation for electronic parts suppliers for NZ. I’m finding Jaycar stock a bit limited. There’s a lot on line but seem to have fairly long delivery timeframes, ex-overseas I’m assuming .

This is for some small motor start ac rated capacitors.

Digikey.

Things can be delivered fast if necessary, usually cost you a few pesos more though.

Motor start capacitors can be found at your electrical wholesalers.

Thanks, I’ll try that but local stock seems to start around the 1uF mark.

Jaycar is the place to go to pay $40 for a $4 ESP board.

I usually go for element 14 mostly. But RS can be surprisingly quick to get things to you.

There's a reason for that.

Do you want to start an induction motor or find high voltage capacitors for other purposes ?

It’s a small motor that runs a turntable. Takes two .1uF capacitors in series as the start up but they need replacing.

Just wondering who people use. Have placed an order with element but obviously coming from overseas.

Those are probably run capacitors, not start capacitors - similar to film caps for ceiling fans.

I think you are right, the pair form a permanent run capacitor. There is another capacitor but it’s across the switch so a spark arrestor I think.

Anyway it won’t start up properly without the faulty capacitors.

Yes! Early 80's. Bought my first CB Walkie Talkies there!

I remember The Lamphouse used to have row after row of shelves stocked with electronic parts ... capacitors, resistors etc etc all colour coded and a few 'pennies' for a mixed bag of stuff 😁

I bought bits for my first crystal radio there (talking mid-1950's now).

There was also a good electrical supply store in Vivian Street, just round corner from Cuba Street near Trades Hall, but can't recall name.
