No idea what's going on, but I can't paste this image the right way up, sorry about that.

Anyways. I want to make these doors close softly, ideally without adding one of those hideous top hinges.

There is a magnet that keeps them closed once they do close, but they bang against the frame 3-4 times each time they close, which is annoying.

The Doors are hollow core, so not that heavy.

I had the same issue. Our media room has the magnets at the top.

Sounds budget. But I used a spongy foam tape where the magnets join at the top. Works a treat and no bang anymore

I used a couple of clear buffers (google stick on cabinet buffer). Just a couple of the dot ones did the trick, plus you can't see them. Got mine from Bunnings but obviously other options as well.

I first used some cheapo dots from somewhere. They were good, eventually fell off. I bought some other stick on pad, sliced a bit off and stuck one each side of the catch plate. It's been there several years now.

I'm interested in something to make the door close. In my case very difficult because there is limited space above the door, and it has to open 180 deg against the wall sometimes.

Foam tape works well if you just want to stop the rattle. You could also try a small soft close damper, like the kind you find in kitchen cabinets and drawers, although these do assume a reasonable amount of self-closing power, the magnets might not pull strongly enough and early enough for them to work.

These look useful up to 90 deg. It's not clear if they are soft close or bat slam

Thanks but those are the hinges I specifically mentioned I don't want. They are hideous to look at.

The one above is a side closer and works equally well at the middle or bottom but I understand what you mean now in general ; )
