Has anyone done this successfully? Quoted a couple of hundred bucks for the technician to do it, but I see it’s a $20 part, so wanted to have a go myself. No YouTube videos that I can find for F&P though, so just wanting to know if it’s realistic to try.

Yeah pretty simple I’d think. I did one on a basic Simpson dryer not so long ago - simply remove the cover and slip the new belt on.

Take the cover off first and have a look - they’re pretty simple machines.

Difficulty depends if the belt goes from motor to a pulley on the end of the drum, or if the belt goes around the drum to the motor.

Pull it apart and have a look.

dryer felt or belt? and yes they can have both. if i remember right felt goes around the front lip of the drum. the ones i did decades ago didn't have it, they just had the bearings the drum front rides on.

OP's asking about replacing the felt, not belt. It's probably glued to the drum - can't imagine it's that hard to do, but the right adhesive will be key.

bought a belt from this guy years ago, and replaced it myself.

Yes, it’s the FELT not belt I’m after info on. Some videos for different brands just show it sliding in to a channel in front of the barrel, which looks easy enough, whereas others involve glue etc which is less straightforward. It’s the front felt which stops the barrel rubbing and grabbing clothes.

Thanks for that, in the comments he says he stuck it down with double sided tape.
