Seems that its common to get a "grow tent" to put them in.

Has anyone found a good price for these? Seems as they target people growing weed that prices are all over the place locally and the aliexpress ones have absurd shipping amounts on them.

Otherwise if there is any other type of cheap enclosure that they can go in that will keep them warm and the smell contained.

Its on a 600mm deep shelf so I was thinking of 600 deep, 900 long and 750 to 800 high if possible, the height is because the lid has to lift off. The ones I have seen with a grow tent on its side have the opening on the top and front so it opens enough to lift the tinted cover off the printer or wash station.

It just seems that $250+ for this is absurd, and thats about what the aliex ones end up with the freight since I assume that there are long poles in it that make it not able to get delivered by the normal cheap freight services.

I'd also give a thought to the fire risk...

Hot melty things inside a nylon or (my idea) cardboard, with lots of vibration to make such an enclosure 'walk' from where you put it - so that it's touching something it shouldn't.

Just block it from moving where it shouldn't - you likely won't need tent pegs ;-)

(Sorry for the paranoia - put it down to a Canadian childhood with traumatic government videos on the lives lost every year to livingroom Christmas tree fires - yes it was a real thing... after 2 weeks in a 0% humidity house, a spark into an Xmas tree goes up like a very big firework.)

No hot melty things on a resin printer, just a vat of stinky resin that is too viscous in a cold shed in winter and a screen under it. I would be putting a lamp or something in there to get it up from the 7 degrees that the shed was when I tried unsuccessfully to print over the weekend, but that would just be to get it up to the mid 20's or so.

Would something like one of these do the trick? I was in Cracker Jack yesterday, and they had lower-height ones as well.

Ooh thats a good idea, if the sides are solid plastic. The weed ones tend to be very opaque and reflective for obvious reasons, but thats not something I need to be concerned about.

Depends on how you feel about making things...

Get some Corflute (corrugated polypropylene sheet) from some old real-estate or election signs and hot-melt glue (or duct-tape) it together.

Cheap, light-weight and easy to modify if you don't get it right the first time.
But much stiffer than cardboard.

You can get Corflute at Bunnings or somewhat cheaper at places like Cambrian Plastics in Henderson.
They'd also make you something pretty out of clear acrylic - but it might be dearer than AliExpress ;-)

They were a clear plastic with an embedded mesh IIRC.

Local body elections are coming up soon, they'll be plenty of coreflute just lying around on the sides of main roads on Sunday mornings :)

Other option could be to modify an animal tent

Real Estate signs and the smaller political hoardings are a good source of Corflute ..

I'm pretty sure I still have one in storage that was used for a resin 3D printer. The problem is, I'm in Wellington and this thing is too bulky to ship.

I will be however driving up to Auckland next month so could perhaps bring it with me? I'll need to check with the owner how much he wants for it but it also has an exhaust fan, tubing and everything you need.
