I am going to buy a heat pump in the next couple of weeks and wonder if anyone could recommend an installer in the central auckland area however they have to be on the approved installer list from energywise so that I can get the subsidy.

So...any good experiences out there?

I know someone who installs them (family friend) but not sure if hes on that list or not, I'll find out for you.

Be careful using assuming it will be cheaper using the energywise subsidy. When we got our last heatpump it was no cheaper going though the subsidy as it seemed that approved installers just hiked up the price to compensate. Make sure you get quotes by non energy wise approved installers to.
Also installers using the subsidy are limited in what brands and models they can install. It may be that there is a better model available at a better price.
Not a heat pump but as an example we put in underfloor insulation. If we had used energy wise we would have had to go with a lower rated product then we used as it was not energy wise approved.

ok thanks for that point, hadn't considered that before. Will be sure to get a quote or 2 from installers not on the list...will be interesting to compare. What I'm mainly after is a quality job though and am happy to pay a little bit more to get something done well.

Had the exact same experience, I was cold called by a Wellington outfit and had them prepare a quote for a rental property which included the Energywise discount PLUS their own discount on top of that of 17% if I signed by 4pm that day (that made me wary), so I contacted someone else who quoted using a superior underfloor product and came in 20% cheaper!
