According to Stuff http://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/golf/75295023/pga-tour-expected-to-return-to-sky-sport-in-2016-share-rights-with-coliseum the PGA rights will be shared in order to "increase audience".
Launch an online streaming sport - struggle to get the traction you'd hope....
Partner with a free-to-air broadcaster to show the first two rounds on FTA television (honestly anyone keen enough to watch anything but the final round is going to be a subscriber, right?).
And sell some of the rights to the previous broadcaster "in the interest of increasing the audience".
Have to be going for different demographics with this strategy, cant see much of an audience crossover.
